Looking ahead to Catena Zapata’s 2020 releases

Alejandro Vigil’s whirlwind December 2019 tour to Buenos Aires saw Catena Zapata’s head winemaker stop off at array of wine stores and restaurants to preview the Mendoza winery’s 2020 releases.

Taste Argentina Wine caught up with him at Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurant Crizia in Palermo over a relaxed dinner among friends. At the table with Ale were Pablo Naumann, Arnaldo Gometz, Andrea Nuñez y Andrea Abad from the winery as well as sommelier Andy Donadio, and baker Germán Torres and Casa Cavia restaurant manager Lucas Angelillo.

Catena’s forthcoming releases include a Chenin Blanc/Semillón white blend and a 100-percent Grenache varietal sourced from Lunlunta in Luján de Cuyo, a new addition for the winery’s mid-ranking D.V. Catena line. Both paired wonderfully with lightly grilled baby squid prepared by Crizia’s chef Gabriel Oggero.
